What’s in My Handbag – September 2014

6

This month I’ve been loving this super cute Colette handbag I picked up in an opp shop for $5 with the tags still on it! It’s been so handy because it works perfectly as a bag I can carry around uni and it also works as a bag I can wear if I’m heading out clubbing. It’s tiny, that’s the one problem, so I tend to find most of the things I want to be able to carry, such as my phone (I’m using a Galaxy Note 3 – it’s huge) – won’t fit, so they live in a coat pocket etc. Here’s what I’m currently carrying:

September HandbagI keep a Sportsgirl makeup bag somewhere around the bottom with all my makeup supplies for the day (I’ll talk about these later), and I usually have a packet of tea – this month it’s Twinnings Raspberry, Strawberry & Loganberry. I also have a bottle of Dettol because I’m heading overseas in a couple of months and want to make sure this brand doesn’t dry out my skin/I need to train myself to actually use it. I keep my car keys in there somewhere even though I rarely drive anywhere during the week as I have my unit ID swipe tag on them. I need a pen or two because I lose them all the time, my Colette purse which actually matches the bag although I bought them separately and last but not least, my Typo diary. That’s pretty much it. I can’t even close the damn thing most days.

Everything else lives in my pockets, uni backpack or is crammed into my laptop sleeve, which doesn’t work very well. I use all these things on a daily basis, and I really can’t imagine going without any of them, mostly because I’m sure I’m in the running for the most unorganised individual on the planet.

So, moving onto the makeup bag. This month, I’ve found that I tend to be carrying a few more products than usual, mostly because I’ll be swapping from being at work to heading to class and want to freshen up my makeup a little etc. At the moment, I have a few favourites in the little Sportsgirl makeup bag.

  • Australis Velourlips Matte Cream in MAL-I-BOO – I compare the quality of this to that of the Lime Crime Velvetines – it dries matte and the colour is amazing.
  • Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub
  • Maybelline Super Stay 24h Waterproof Powder
  • Australis Bronzing Powder in Sunkissed
  • Savvy by DB Eyebrow Pencil in Taupe
  • Forever New Powder Brush

I also have one product I basically use to touch up my lips particularly when I’m wearing a Lime Crime or another bright colour and that’s the elf Concealer. I really disliked this product, I was so excited to try it and it’s just so dry and sheer. It’s almost creamy and covers enough if you apply plenty, but it creases and it’s just a mess on my skin. So it’s found it’s way into my makeup bag for lip touch ups and that’s all I use it for. It’s the only elf product I’ve tried that I have not liked at all which is a small bonus I guess because they are incredibly affordable and (for Australian’s) available at Kmart!

That’s it for this months ‘What’s in My Handbag’. What are you carrying with you this month – let me know in the comments section below!

I wish I were able to carry something this small all the time haha, already I’m back carrying my handbag that seems to be the size of a small horse when I’m got it draped over my shoulder! I think it’s a bag thing, they just eat things you might need some day and hide them away in a corner for later use!

      Thanks for the comment!
